This summer, Troy United returns to the Great Lakes Conference of the Midwest Premier League. Mixed with some new and familiar faces, Troy is back in the Eastern division of the GLC along with Thundercats, Cedars FC, Michigan Jaguars, Liquid Football, Inter Detroit and Michigan Stars. The newest clubs to the division are MI Futsal Factory, Livonia City FC, and Ypsi Yetis.
In a division of 10 clubs, each team will play each other once with the exception of having to play one club twice, that being Cedars FC by random draw, for a total of 10 league matches.
Troy United kicks off its season at MI Futsal Factory on May 17, followed by our home opener against Thundercats on May 26. As we’re looking to avenge a 2-1 loss, this will be a spicy matchup to start the 2024 campaign.
Following Thundercats, we have home matches against Cedars FC (6/1) and Michigan Jaguars (6/9). Last season’s matchups boded well for Troy, as Peyton Trask and Conner Henson inspired the team to a 2-1 comeback win against Cedars, while we experienced a late-season draw at Jaguars.
A slate of away games including Ypsi Yetis (6/15), Livonia City (6/22) and Liquid Football (6/30) follow the Jags. This will be the first time Troy will have played the Yetis and Livonia in the MWPL, whereas Liquid took the victory in last season’s home opener, 3-1.
The season concludes at home against Inter Detroit (7/6) and Michigan Stars (7/13), and away at Cedars FC (7/20) in the reverse fixture.
Troy United will look to improve on its 7th place finish from last season, where head coach Kahner James led the club to a 5-1-6 record in our inaugural season in the MWPL. With a squad mixed with experience, talent, and chemistry, the sky is the limit for Troy United.
