Ferguson, Boos return to coaching staff with Mendez as new addition

Troy United has brought back Steve Ferguson and Tony Boos to the coaching staff, as well as added Devin Mendez as a goalkeeping coach. Kahner and his coaching staff led TUFC to a 5-1-6 record in our first season in the Midwest Premier League, showing a lot of promise of what James, Ferguson, and Boos can do with a young, talented squad.

““Last season, as a coaching staff, we wanted to set an identity for the team,” said James. “We wanted the players to feel and know that all of the coaches were there to help them. I feel we were successful with that.”

With Steve and Tony as his side, Kahner James was able to build an identity and foster great relationships with the players last summer.

“Going into this season, I feel lucky to have Steve and Tony back on the staff. They were pivotal in the successes we had and formed that team identity last season.”

Steve and Tony have a combined 30+ years of coaching experience, as well as both being USSF Licensed.

James also adds Devin Mendez to the coaching staff, a goalkeeping coach who has played for Detroit City FC as well as coached for the Elite Keeper Academy for 6+ years. Devin played collegiately for the University of Detroit Mercy.

“This year, just as we grow our playing-style identity on the field and grow as a club, we wanted to grow the staff so that we can continue to give players the individual focus that they deserve. So I’m very excited to be adding Devin into the staff for this season.”

“With Steve, Tony, and Devin being on the staff, I think we can really give the players the best experience in the league and make waves in the standings.”
